Your host
John Kerr is of Waikato-Tainui descent and the founder of Kia Ora Tours. He created the business to help visitors experience Auckland through Māori perspectives and understand the living connections between people, whenua and the ancestral maunga of Tāmaki Makaurau.
John’s approach is welcoming, personal and grounded in conversation. Guests are encouraged to ask questions, look beyond the city’s familiar landmarks and consider the histories and responsibilities held within the landscape.

Kia Ora Tours is a Māori-owned Auckland tourism venture offering small-group cultural experiences across the ancestral maunga and at the Māori Business Hub Te Ngahere.
How we host
We keep groups small so guests have time to listen, ask questions and connect with the people and places they visit. We introduce kupu Māori in context and welcome visitors with different levels of prior knowledge.
